The Coflex Procedure

The Coflex device is the first and only motion preserving minimally invasive treatment for moderate to severe lumbar spinal stenosis. It is a simple procedure that can help reduce or relieve your back after a spinal decompression.

Coflex Vs. Fusion

The lumbar spine is made up of 5 bones called vertebrae. When 2 or more of these segments are fused together you lose mobility. Not only is the segment(s) no longer moving but it puts stress on the other levels above and below the fusion. Within a few years those other segments may have to be fused too.

The Coflex Device allows for motion at the problematic level or levels. This allows for the natural motion of the spine at the adjacent levels without adding significant stress like a fusion.

What Are They Saying

Dr. Pennings did a great job. My back pain was so bad I couldn't do anything I used to enjoy, or even needed to do. One day in surgery and now I'm back to playing with the kids and working in the yard.
