Second Opinions?
Second opinions are always a good idea. There are a variety of ways to treat spine problems and not one way is right for everybody.

Treat the symptoms and not the films.
With the advancement in technology we are able to pinpoint exactly what is causing your symptoms. With this knowledge I can treat just that specific area which can result in less surgery.

Example 1: Cervical Fusion
A cervical fusion is a common procedure. Sometimes the disc in between the vertebra pushes against the nerves in your neck. This can cause tingeing and numbness in the upper extremities. Using an MRI and your symptoms we can pinpoint what area needs to be addressed. Physical therapy can alleviate the symptoms. If that treatment does not work we can look at surgical options like a fusion or a cervical artificial disc.
If you were told you need a fusion then your doctor may not know about Cervical Artificial discs.Schedule a second opinion today:

Example 2 : Lumbar Degeneration
Lumbar disc degeneration usually happens in the aging spine. When a disc degenerates it looses height and may push on nerves. Some surgeons may see an MRI and X-ray then want to fuse with screws, rods and a cage. However just a simple decompression could get you back on your feet with little recovery time. All options need to be weighed and discussed to see what treatment is best for you.
